REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Date:05/08/00
Item No.: F-1
Department Approval: Manager Reviewed Agenda Section
,J Consent
Item Description: Joint Powers Agreement with Arden Hills
Background
As part of the 2000 Budget process, the objective was established to implement cooperative
agreements with other communities where such cooperation makes sense. During the past 6
months, the City has entered into technology sharing agreements with the communities of
Moundsview and Lauderdale.
Staff has had recent discussions with Arden Hills regarding the sharing of resources. The main area
of discussion, has been primarily in the realm of public works cooperation, specifically with the
SCADA system(water and sewer monitoring systems)technology sharing and other related tasks.
The intent of the attached proposed agreement is to allow that sharing of resources to go forward.
The agreement was drafted by the Roseville City Attorney in consultation with Arden Hills staff
and legal council.
As there may well be other areas of cooperation between the cities in the future, the agreement was
left broad enough to allow the exploration of additional sharing.
Financial Implications
Based on current discussions, staff sees no additional financial impact to the City of Roseville. Any
work to be done would be completed within the current budget.
StaffRecommendations
Staff is recommending approval of the proposed Joint Powers Agreements.
Council Action
Motion to approve the attached Joint Powers Agreement with Arden Hills and authorizing the May
or and City Manager to sign.
