Roseville yards, lakes, and wetlands and are pleased about the prospect of convenient access to <br /> wildlife care and educational services. They also perceive value added by the location of a$3 <br /> million clinic facility here, and the acclaim that the WRC's program will bring to the City of <br /> Roseville. The WRC is the leading such facility in the state of Minnesota,treating more than <br /> 60% of the wild birds and animals receiving medical care and rehabilitation. <br /> Over the last year, staff from the Parks and Recreation Department, the Parks and Recreation <br /> Advisory Committee of the City Council, legal counsel to the City of Roseville, the Roseville <br /> City Manager, and the Board and staff of the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center have worked <br /> together to create an unique partnership. The attached agreement would make land within <br /> Roseville's Central Park, adjacent to the parking area for the Harriet Alexander Nature Center, <br /> available to the WRC for a nominal fee. The WRC would build and operate its new facility <br /> entirely at its own expense, and the WRC and HANC would collaborate on program <br /> development for the benefit of the citizens of Roseville. <br /> Benefits to each of the partners would include, but not be limited to the following: <br /> The benefits to the City of Roseville <br /> • Access to the educational spaces at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center facility <br /> • Increased visibility for the Harriet Alexander Nature Center and the City of Roseville <br /> • Collaboration with the Volunteer Director and volunteers at the Wildlife Rehabilitation <br /> Center <br /> • Volunteer opportunities for adults and youth <br /> • Internships for high school, college-aged, and adult learners <br /> • On and off site educational programs for youth and adults including summer day camps, <br /> school classroom presentations, and evening workshops <br /> • Easy access for Roseville residents, police, and community service officers to the WRCs <br /> emergency medical services for injured and orphaned wildlife <br /> • Improved access for Roseville residents to services provided by the WRC at no additional <br /> expense, real or implied, other than those obligations contained in this agreement <br /> The benefits to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center <br /> • Opportunity to construct a new purpose-built wildlife medical and rehabilitation facility <br /> • Metro location that offers easy access for the larger metropolitan community and veterinary <br /> students from the University of Minnesota <br /> • Access to park area and wildlife habitat for educational programming <br /> • Opportunity to partner with HANC staff and volunteers on events, summer day camps, and <br /> workshops <br /> • Shared use of parking lot with HANC <br /> • Increased visibility and reach through City of Roseville directories and public relations <br /> materials <br /> • Opportunity to cultivate a new base of supporters who take pride in this community resource <br /> To further develop and maintain this partnership the City of Roseville and the WRC agree to the <br /> following: <br /> 16 <br />
