REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br /> DATE: 4/12/99 <br /> ITEM NO.: G-2 <br /> IP <br /> Department Approval: Manager Reviewed* Agenda Section., <br /> Reports <br /> Item Descriptionq., Engineering Services—Potential TEA 21 Transit Projects Feasibility Studies <br /> Background* At the March 1 999 City Council worksession, std reviewed a number of potential <br /> projects to submit for Federal TEA 21 funding. Included in this list of potential projects was the <br /> construction of approved access from T*H.3 6 to Rosedale and the extension of the U of M <br /> Transitway from the University of l innesota St. Paul campus to Rosedale. Both of these projects <br /> are somewhat undefined and need further definition if a TEA 21 application is to be submitted. <br /> Attached is a proposal from BRw to complete scoping feasibility studies for both of these <br /> projects. The total cost to complete this work is $26,720. <br /> Financial Implications; The cost of this project is not included in the approved 1999 Budget, <br /> Because both of these projects are intended to improve access to the Rosedale area, staff" <br /> proposes to fund this work from the Tax Increment Economic Development Fund. <br /> RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION <br /> Motion approving Blow's proposal to complete feasibility studies for improved access to <br /> Rosedale from T.H. 36 and an extension of the U of M Transitway, and authorizing funding in the <br /> amount of$263720 from the Tax Increment Economic Development Fund. <br /> Prepared by: Karl P Feel <br />
