CATEGORIES of VISION, IDEAS,-SPECIFIC USES: <br /> The Task Force felt the uses should include the following concepts <br /> I. Uses should be both indoor and outdoor. <br /> 2. City support services (roads, paths, parks, utilities, safety) should be an integral <br /> part of the design. <br /> 3. Emphasis should be placed on tone, character, sense of place, ambiance. <br /> 4. Activities should be identified for current and fature users. <br /> 5. There should be active and passive areas <br /> 6. whatever is designed should include flexibility for expansion <br /> 7. The site should be a"site for all seasons", featuring seasonal events. <br /> 8. The public and private sector should play a role in the design., financing and <br /> construction either through collaborative work or partnerships. <br /> 9. Operational/maintenance features should be designed with efficiency and <br /> functionality in mind. <br /> 10. Efficiency, durability, and longevity should be a part of all design. <br /> Examples of specific uses identified for the City Center include the following: <br /> i's Government Center <br /> updated fire/police facility; updated government complex state, city, county;, <br /> government center schools; county service center <br /> 2. CommunlRy Center <br /> Meeting rooms; teen center; service center; multi-purpose rooms; child care facilities; <br /> volunteer organization spaces; performance theatre; seminar theater; art/history center- <br /> home/garden education facility; continuing education communuty center; Transit Village <br /> —a major transit facility,possibly LRT, HR; conference facility; solarium; storage space <br /> for center organizations; religious facility ; T , city, cable system; public access studio; <br /> satellite postal service; Mini-Conference Center; gallery area; neighborhood promotion; <br /> massage center, conununity nurse/health services; kitchen wedding reception area; <br /> technology center—internet access library; charter schools <br /> 3, Recreadon Center <br /> outdoor facilities; amphitheater; swimming pool indoor; indoor play area; indoor park <br /> I <br /> ndoor tennis, park and recreation center offices; climbing wall, outdoor track; <br /> basketball/volleyball gym; child play area; craft castle or room; private recreation <br /> area;putting greens; <br /> 4, Complementary Retafl <br /> food service/restaurants; neighborhood retail; kiosk/and select cart vendors; beauty and <br /> barber shops; service-retail; home office service center <br /> 3 <br />
