REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Date: 11/13/01
Item No.: H-3
Department Approval: Manager Reviewed Agenda Section
1A Hearings
%AP-01 7UA./t
Description: Liquor License renewals-for the year 2002.
Background
Staff is in the process of renewing all liquor licenses for the year 2002. The licenses to be renewed
include twenty-three (23) On-Sale (maximum 30 allowed by state stature), six (6) Off-Sale
(maximum of 10 allowed by City ordinance), four (4) Club, and nine (9) Wine (City ordinance or
state statute do not limit the number of the last two types of licenses). The Police Chief has reviewed
the records, and finds no reasons for denial of the licenses. The City Attorney will review the
applications prior to the issuance of licenses to ensure they are in order.
Financial Implications
The estimated revenue of$180,700 that is generated from the license fees collected is used to offset
the cost of police compliance checks, background investigations, enforcement of liquor laws, and
license administration.
Council Action
Motion approving/denying the renewal of the following liquor licenses for calendar year 2002 with
the condition that all required application items be submitted before the licenses may be issued.
