EXCERPT FROM PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES OF 81I V98. <br /> 6d. Planning File 3053. Robert Schroeder is requesting variances to reduce <br /> the setback from the ordinary high grater level of Mccarrons Labe to 1 <br /> and the front yard setback to 27.5! for the purpose of constructing a 12' <br /> 32' addition on a non-conforming residential structure at 257 south <br /> McCa rrons Boulevard. <br /> Member Harms opened the public hearing and requested Dennis Welsch <br /> resent a summary, based on err iften reports dated July 8, 1 993, of the <br /> application for variances by Robert Schroeder, 257 South Mccarrons Boulevard. <br /> Dennis Welsch discussed Mr. chroeder's request for a 12' x 3 ` addition to the <br /> re-existing non-conforming architecturally designed home. He indicated <br /> ordinary high water hirel setback variance of 65; front yard variance (from <br /> Mc arrons Lake) of .5'; that the addition was on the southwest corner of the <br /> building and would be constructed to conform to handicap accessability. <br /> The applicant, Bob Schroeder} presented his architect, Matt Dean, 634 <br /> Minnesota Building, St. Paul. Member Mulder asked if existing roofline would be <br /> followed es). Member pausing asked if the same building materials as the <br /> existing house would be used for addition (yes). <br /> There being no further questions or comments, Chair Harms closed the hearing. <br /> Motion: Member Rhody moved, Member Wilke seconded, to recommend <br /> approval of the request for a variance from Section 101 1.02 to allow the construction of a 12' x 3 ' addition to a non-conforming residential structure on a <br /> Lakeshore lot at 257 McCarrons Boulevard, based on the following staff findings <br /> and endin approval fr.om the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and <br /> p � pp <br /> with the following provision: <br /> plan for adding vegetative screening on the house from Labe <br /> Mccarrons must be submitted to the City for review in conjunctiva with the <br /> tans for a building permit, and such vegetation must be installed in <br /> conjunctiva with construction of the addition. <br /> Findings: <br /> 1 Section 1016.16 of the City Code requires a setback of 75 feet from <br /> the ordinary high grater level of l ccarrons Lake. For this reason, <br /> the existing structure on the property is nonconforming because `it <br /> is only setback 10 feet from Mccarrons Labe. <br /> 2) Section 1011.02 of the City code does not allow the expansion of a <br /> non-conforming structure, although Section 1016.22 does allover <br /> additions to non-conforming lakeshore lots ®if the addition meets the <br />
