Back <br /> ground <br /> 1.1 <br /> On March 10: 1998, The City of Roseville Council approved the hire of Health <br /> Planning & Management Resources, inc to prepare a senior housing market study <br /> to determine the senior housing needs for the City of Roseville. <br /> Patti McCullough from Health Planning & Management Resource, inc. made a <br /> presentation to the Council regarding the results of the study at the Council meeting <br /> on August 3, 1998. The study was accepted by motion of the Council on August 3, <br /> 1998 with the direction to further discuss policy implications as a result of the study <br /> and how it relates to future development of senior housing and City fiscal planning. <br /> senior is defined for this purpose as being over the age of 65■ The senior study <br /> does include demographic data, which includes information for ages below 65. <br /> 2,0 �Y fSsuea <br /> The following rin g are some recommended policy issues that staff feels the Council should <br /> discuss in more detail now that the study results have been presented. <br /> 2.1 Should the City continue to support senior housing development projects that <br /> generate additional senior population from non-residents? <br /> - The study results show that Rosevil le s senior population (19.2%) is currently <br /> higher than the Mate average (13.1%) and that there is an existing high <br /> concentration of senior housing in Roseville. <br /> The senior p o p u lation is expected to continue to rise and age at a faster rate <br /> than the state average. <br /> The stud y also shoves that there is a love percentage ( ��) of Roseville <br /> residents that have moved into senior housing in Roseville. <br /> 4 <br /> RCD—Senior Study 08/1 7198-Page 1 of 3 <br />
