6.0 Rental Rehab Pro ram Update <br /> 6.1 The purpose of the Rental Rehabilitation loan program is to foster the <br /> improvement of multi-fatally housing (properties with 4- 5 units). The program <br /> owners of rental properties with technical assistance in accessing <br /> provides ovine � � <br /> financing programs for renovation and energy efficient improvements. <br /> 6.2 The City has contracted with Affordable Suburban Housing to provide the <br /> technical assistance on the program refer apartment owners to the funding <br /> sources at Minnesota Housing Financing Agency and N P. <br /> 6.3 The goals of the program for 1998 are to: <br /> market the programs to property owners with 4 to 25 unit building <br /> provide approximately 30 properties with technical advice <br /> refer approximately 15 property owners to the financing agencies for <br /> rehabilitation loans or energy audits <br /> Complete loans or energy audits for at least 6 properties <br /> 6.4 The following is a status of the program so far this gear. <br /> letters were sent to 40 owners of approximately 54 properties to announce <br /> the p rog rare and introduce ASH as the advisory representative for the <br /> programs <br /> ASH contacted 20 owners as a follow-up to the letter <br /> Three property owners, representing 117 total units in 9 buildings, were <br /> interested in loans and made appointments to meet with the financing <br /> agency. one owner, two 11 unit buildings, has made an application for <br /> funding. Improvements to be made include new roofs and boilers. <br /> A second letter was sent to the property owners introducing the free energy <br /> audit program with NsP. <br /> ® Three ro erty owners, representing 281 units, expressed an interest the <br /> p p <br /> program. Two have completed the energy audit and one has been <br /> scheduled. <br /> 6.5 staff with the assistance of ASH continues to follow-up with property owners to <br /> market the p rogram and encourage improvements in the multi-family apartment <br /> complexes. <br /> 7.00 Senior Housing. <br /> 7.1 The senior study is complete and Council is discussing the policy implications so <br /> that direction regarding ,development of new senior housing can be established. <br /> 8.0 other possible housina oroarams <br /> 8.1 There is an interest from several churches to partner with private firms for the <br /> development of affordable and low income housing for families and seniors. <br /> R D—R H I P Update 08/1 7/98- Page 4 of 5 <br />
