REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL ACTION <br /> DATE: 8/1 0/98 <br /> ITEM No: <br /> Department Approval: Manager Approval: Agenda Section: <br /> 4 Reports/Recommendations <br /> Item Description: Senior Housing Market study Final Report <br /> 1.0 Re nested Action <br /> City staff is requesting approval, by motion, to accept the findings of the Senior Housing <br /> Market study prepared for the City of Roseville by Health Planning & Management <br /> Resources, inc. <br /> 2.0 Background <br /> 2.1 On March 10, 1 998, The City of Roseville Council approved the hire of Health <br /> Planning Management Resources, inc to prepare a senior housing market study <br /> to determine the senior housing needs for the City of Roseville. <br /> 2.2 Health Planning & Management Resource, inc. was chosen out of five proposals <br /> that responded to a request for proposal which outlined the study objectives, <br /> minimum study requirements, submission requirements, selection eriteria and study <br /> time line. <br /> 3,11 The stud} focused on the following research components: <br /> socio-demographic profile of the senior population in Roseville <br /> - range of senior housing options available <br /> fee structure for senior housing <br /> three categor1es of senior housing and the evaluation of their differing <br /> characteristics: affordable housing, assisted housing and nursing home care. <br /> sic senior community focus groups <br /> - potential sites for new senior Dousing <br /> demand and saturation analysis for senior housing. <br /> 3.2 The following were key findings that were revealed from the research. Patricia <br /> McCullough with HP&MR will be at the Council meeting to discuss the key findings <br /> and answer specific Council questions. <br /> There is a low percentage of Roseville residents in designated senior Dousing. <br /> RCA—Senior Study 08110/98- Page 1 of 3 <br />
