There is a larger percentage of seniors in Roseville than the state average and <br /> the R ulation is expected to continue to grow. <br /> p <br /> Roseville seniors are sli-qhtly more affluent than seniors in the surrounding <br /> communities including St. Paul. <br /> There is a high occupancy rate in existing Roseville senior housing complexes. <br /> Focus group discussions revealed that there is a need for more affordable senior <br /> housing for Roseville seniors, that Roseville is a desirable location for seniors <br /> to live and that public transportation available next to senior housing is <br /> imports <br /> Affordable senior housing is best developed in collaboration with an experienced <br /> social or institutional sponsor. <br /> 4,0 Policy Is �re� <br /> 4.1 The following are some policy issues the Council may grant to consider as the study <br /> results are presented <br /> Should the City continue to support senior housing development projects that <br /> generate additional senior population from non-residents' <br /> .f Should the City financially support affordable senior housing with requirements <br /> to accommodate Roseville seniors? <br /> What impact does an aging community with fined incomes have on the long term <br /> financial policies of the City? <br /> What fiscal and/or physical measures should be taken to address those <br /> impacts? <br /> 5,0 Staff Recommendations <br /> 5.1 y <br /> fit Staff commends the excellent work by HP&MR in the evaluation of the senior <br /> housing usin market in Roseville.
