Although this alternate was rejected' because of the cost, the Council expressed interest in this item and asked that new prices be obtained. The construction Manager, R.A. Morton, has obtained price quotations as a change order on the approved project. A revised design was used to attempt to lower the cost. The following are the results of their work with the contractors for the walking track addition: Item cost General Conditions (reroute NP poorer line) $4;595 Site Work $14,427 Concrete/Masonry foundations and floor slab) $47,760 Steel $41629 Carpentry 908 Roofing $187473 DoorsN indows (Additional $4,400 for 8 more windows) $4,670 Dry Wall/Finishing/Flooring $20,571 Mechanical (HVAC) 909 Electrical (lights and electric heat) $12,078 Cost $129,019 Contingency ,000 Architectural Fees $6,451 Total Cost $1379471 The cost of the original project alternate was $150,461 plus contingency. and architectural fees of $161,011. Dote: This amount did not include a walking floor around the entire arena, which is included in the current amount. Staff has researched walking track usage at 5 other public recreation facilities in the Twin Cities. Although none of the facilities kept separate records for use of the walking tracks, all responded that they believed their facility experienced regular and in some cases heavy usage.
