MEMORANDUM Public Works Maimenance <br /> Date: July 13, 1998 <br /> To- Karl Keel, Public Works Director <br /> From: Duane Schwartz,, Public Works Superintendent <br /> Subject: Brush Collection Status/Plan <br /> As of mid-day today, we estimate approximately 40-50% of'the storm damage tree debris has <br /> been collected. The contractor has hauled 24 loads out of the City. Ramsey County personnel <br /> hauled an additional 2 loads to Forest Lake. In addition to the haUling, up to 4 crews are <br /> chipping brush on the street on a daily basis. These crews are comprised of City staff utilizing <br /> osevil le's 1 tree chipper, and borrowed chippers from Columbia Heights, Brooklyn eater-,, and <br /> the City of Eagan. Columbia Heights has also provided a truck and operator- along with their <br /> chipper. <br /> Chipping crews have been collecting the smaller, less labor intensive piles of brush and logs. <br /> Contractor trucks and Ramsey County's borrowed equipment with nnechan i cal loaders al-C <br /> collecting the lamer piles with the larger logs. Much of the re mai n i ncy debris to be collected is in <br /> tamer piles. <br /> City staff is hauling to the old bandy rink site today utilizing City n-uck s and l ani sev COLility <br /> equipment. This is in anticipation of the City Council approving use of this site for- (YrIndina the <br /> debris into wood-chips. <br /> The contractor Vrill be back tomorrow through Friday to assist hauling the remaining debris to <br /> the bandy site. 2 of the borrowed tree chippers have to be sent back to the respective cities by <br /> Wednesday. If the contractor is able to assist-us., we expect to have all debris either chipped or <br /> Mauled.to the old bandy site by the end of the day on Friday. <br /> The contractor is anticipating roving his tub grinder to the site on Wednesday or Thursday and <br /> will begin grinding the debris pile. We expect he will be operating for- 3) working days to <br /> complete this project. He is anticipating working within noise ordinance hours. We need to <br /> communicate to him any further restrictions. <br /> If you have any questions', call me at 3 1 <br />
