REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION DATE. 7/13/98 ITEM NO.. E-1 Department Approval: Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section: Organizational Business Item Description: Establish City Center Task Force. BACKGROUND The Council, during the past months, has had a number of discussions regarding a City Center Master Plan and Development Strategy. In May, the Council approved a contract with Ellerbe Becket to provide Phase 1 for the City Center Master Plan development in an amount not to exceed $55,000. Attached is the Phase 1 Work Program and schedule. The Work Program includes the formation of a City Center Task Force to oversee the preparation of the plan. Ellerbe Becket proposes the group be composed of City Center stakeholders including residents, business people, and civic leaders. POLICY OBJECTIVES The City Council has adopted a policy relating to the appointment of Advisory Commission members. The policy provides that the Council may use the same procedure for making appointments to other advisory groups, committees, or task forces. For past committees and task forces, the Council has chosen to use the procedure set forth in the policy. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS It is anticipated the only costs would be for materials, copying, etc. to serve the Task Force. STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS It is recommended the application deadline for the Task Force be established for August 141 1998, and that the Council select a date for interviews which shall be within 30 days of the application deadline. The Council, at the July work session, would discuss a charge to the Task Force as well as number of members on the Task Force, etc. COUNCIL ACT 19N REQUIESIED Motion establishing August 14, 1998 at 4:30 p.m. as the deadline for receiving applications for the Roseville City Center Task Force, and establishing a Special Council Work Session for , beginning at p.m., at the Roseville City Hall for the purpose of 'Interviewing applicants for the City Center Task Force.
