Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section: <br /> 640 Q�� <br /> Item Description: Approval of contract with Bonestroo, Rosene and Anderlik for the <br /> Development of Plans and specifications for the Installation of an <br /> Elevator and New Deck at the Harriet Alexander Nature center. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The Harriet Alexander Nature center Advisory committee in 1995 developed a long range <br /> plan for the nature center. This master plan included the recommendation to improve <br /> accessibility and meet the requirements of the American Disabilities Act, to better utilize <br /> the facility through quicker more efficient transfer from levels and to make it easier for <br /> volunteers to assist at the center. <br /> The proposed plan would provide are elevator on the northwest corner of the building. This <br /> would be in the location of the current small deck. The project would include the <br /> construction of a new deck that wraps around the large set of windows on the upper level. <br /> If authorized to bid, the final bids would be brought to the City council for final approval. <br /> POLICY OBJECTIVE <br /> The proposed project is consistent with the recommendations of the Parks and Recreation <br /> commission and the Pans and Recreation Infrastructure committee and would bring the <br /> Nature center into compliance with ADA. The use of consultants is per the approved <br /> consultant policy. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPLICATION <br /> The cost for the p lanning services and installation supervision as outlined in the attached <br /> letter provided by Bonestroo, Anderlik and Rosene, is an amount not to exceed $1 2,300. <br /> The money for the consultant services and construction costs is proposed to be taken from <br /> the Parks and Recreation Infrastructure Bond Fund. <br /> STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br /> Eased on the recommendations of the Pans and Recreation commission and the Parks <br /> and Recreation Infrastructure committee and the Harriet Alexander Nature center <br /> Advisory committee, the staff recommends that the city of Roseville eater into the <br /> proposed agreement with Bonestroo, Anderiik and Rosene for the development of plans <br /> and specifications and to advertise for bids for the installation of an elevator and new deck <br /> at the Harriet Alexander Nature center.,, <br />
