Request For Council Action <br /> 6/08/98 <br /> Item No: G-1 <br /> Department Approval, Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section: <br /> Recognition <br /> Bach round <br /> Shortly after I arrived in Roseville in October 1996, established a committee to make <br /> recommendations regarding an awards process for both sworn and-civilian personnel. <br /> The committee developed a process whereby individuals would be nominated for going above <br /> and beyond the call of duty. <br /> The committee's recommendation for a peer nomination and review process for Departmental <br /> Awards was adopted in mid 1997. A Representative from each shift, the detective bureau, and <br /> administration were appointed to the hoard for two year terms. At the first meeting a Chairperson. <br /> and Vice Chair, as well as a number of alternates were appointed to the Board. <br /> During the years 1997 and so far this year a number of nominations were accepted and reviewed <br /> by the Board, some were approved, but many were denied, <br /> On May 14, 1998 in conjunction with National Police Week, a Dinner was held to recognize a <br /> number of sworn officers and citizens for outstanding work and contributions to the Police <br /> Department and the City of Roseville for the year 1997 and early 1998. <br /> ro ri <br /> thought it ate that we recognize these individuals bar name at a Council Meeting. <br /> g p p <br /> Several Citizens were p resented with certificates of Honor for their contributions over this past <br /> gear. <br /> Vif uain from Brooms Park was presented an award for his actions after a lady had her <br /> Tobin � Brooklyn <br /> purse stolen in Rosedale. He chased the suspect, caught the suspect and held the individual until <br /> the p olice arrived. The purse was subsequently returned to the victim. <br /> second citizen award was resented to Donna Baker of Roseville for her efforts in reporting <br /> �sec, p <br /> several suspects that were seen stealing parts from Midway Ford. Due to her efforts several <br /> arrests were made and a number of cases were cleared. <br /> Awards were given to two women who were responsible for swing the life of a senior citizen at <br /> � <br /> Har Mar Shopping enter. ll s Jackie Campbell from Gilbert Arizona and Jana andenhoc from <br /> Fp g <br /> r Minnesota performed CPR and rescue breathing until officers arrived and attached our <br /> �l rive p <br />
