Survival Link Defibrillator successfully on a Senior Citizen who had collapsed at the shopping <br /> center. Had it not been for the efforts of these two citizens this man would not have lived. <br /> Officers Chau, Dvorak, Christianson, and Stefani were awarded a Unit Citation for their actions <br /> after they responded to a Burglary Alarm at the Jonathan Fielding Store at 1 767 Lexington in the <br /> early morning hours of January 1997. Not only did the officers follow-up on leads on duty they <br /> followed several leads while off duty. Because of the effort of these officers acting as a team <br /> several arrests were made, confessions were obtained and a number of cases that occurred over a <br /> period of about 3 weeks were cleared. <br /> Officers Holtrneier, Farkos, Williams and Sgt. Rosand were awarded a Unit Citation for their <br /> actions regarding a seemingly violent, disoriented and very agitated armed suspect at 3 a.m. on <br /> April 2, 1997. They found that the man was separated from his wife and had earlier threatened <br /> her life. For approx. 1 2 hour the officers negotiated with the suspect until he finally surrendered. <br /> The officers removed a 38 caliber weapon from the suspect. He was charged with several <br /> felonies due to the threats and the weapon involved. <br /> Officers wahtera, Lindahl, Christenson, and Stefani were awarded a Unit Citation for their <br /> actions regarding a call at 2:02 A.M. when they responded to an alarm at 1930 Lexington Ave, <br /> They found that a window had been broken to the business and it had been burglarized. Together <br /> and throughout the night the officers followed leads, found the car that the suspects had traveled <br /> in, a set of keys and flashlight that had been used in the commission of the crime. Subsequently <br /> they found two suspects hiding in the area. They obtained confessions from both suspects <br /> regarding the burgh. <br /> Officers Sikkorra, Carter, Sgt. Rosand and Detective Mathwig were awarded a Unit Citation for <br /> their actions involving a call reporting a stolen truck. lifter chasing the suspect in the stolen car, <br /> it was abandoned and the suspect fled on foot. After a foot chase and subsequent search they <br /> eventually found the suspect and after a brief struggle affected an arrest. This also happened in <br /> the early morning hours, 1:31 a.m.. August 29, 1997. <br /> Officer Hawley won the Departrnent's Award of Merit after he recovered a$35,000 truck that <br /> was stolen from a Roseville Dealership. He spent countless hours running down leads and calling <br /> people to get information on the suspect. After he received information he called the Chicago <br /> Police Department and wised them of his investigation. In response to the information they <br /> were given by officer Hawley they recovered the truck after the suspect tried to sell it for money <br /> to purchase crack. The truck has since been returned to Roseville. <br /> The last award, an Award of Merit was presented to officers Mooney and Perkins for their work <br /> in recovering two stolen cars in the Waterworks Park Area. Perkins knowing that the area had <br /> been a dropping ground for stolen vehicles for several weeps started making a regular check of <br /> the area. One of his checks turned up two suspects with two stolen vehicles. with help from <br /> Officer Mooney and after a foot chase the two suspects were arrested. <br />
