On June 11, 2001 the City Council directed staff to organize a citizens committee and update the
1991 plan. The City Council charged the Residential Solid Waste and Recycling Citizens Advisory Committee
(RSWRCAC) with the updating of the April 1991 Residential Waste and Recycling Report and "evaluate the
existing residential waste collection services and explore opportunities for improvement."
The RSWRCAC materials have been copied to the City Council since the group was established and began
meeting in August 2001. Since it's inception the Committee has toured facilities, held many meetings,
conducted focus groups, scientifically surveyed residents about their interests on the topic and participated in
discussions with state, county, city and many local experts on solid waste and recycling.
At the March 25 meeting, members will review activities since inception, current activities and next steps.
