REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br /> DATE. 05!26/98 <br /> ITEM NO: C-5 <br /> a nt Approval: Manager A roved; Agenda Section: <br /> 4 <br /> CONSENT <br /> Item Description: Diana Moss and Mary Needham request for a minor variance to <br /> reduce the setback of are accessory building to three feet at 182-184 <br /> Skillman Avenue West (PF#3026). <br /> 1:0 REQUESTED ACTION <br /> 1.1 Diana Moss and Mary Needham, owners of a duplex at 182-184 Skillman Avenue <br /> West, are requesting a minor variance to reduce the setback of an accessory <br /> building to three feat, allow the construction of a second detached garage, and to <br /> increase the lot coverage of accessory buildings to 26% of the req u i red rear yard <br /> for the purpose of constructing a single stall detached garage (14' x 22'). The <br /> applicants would also like to extend the existing driveway to access the new garage. <br /> A blanket driveway variance was granted for this driveway in 1990 (PF2093). <br /> Requirement Proposal l <br /> Accessory building setback - 5' 3' setback ' variance <br /> An accessory building 2nd accessory One additional <br /> building building <br /> Lot coverage - 5 of 6 coverage 11% variance <br /> required rear yard <br /> Driveway setback - ' 3' setback. 2' variance <br /> 2,0 BACKGROUND <br /> 2.1 Diana Doss and Mary Needham oven a two-family home at 182-184 Skillman <br /> Avenue West. The property is zoned R-2 Two-Family Residential and adjacent land <br /> uses are single family and two-family residential to the north, south, east, and west. <br /> 2.2 Ms. Moss & Ms. Needham are requesfing a minor variance to reduce the setback <br /> of an accessory building to three feet, allow the construction of a second detached <br /> garage,a and to increase the lot coverage of accessory buildings to 26% of the <br /> required rear yard for the pulse of constructing a single stall attached garage(I4' <br /> x 22). There is currently a two-car attached garage on the property which is used <br /> by the applicants; however, they would like a second garage for the rental unit <br /> which is located in the west Ralf of the home. There is currently a driveway on this <br /> side of the house which is less than one foot from the west property line, approved <br /> PF3026-FICA(05/26/98)- Page I of 3 <br />
