REQUEST FOR COUNCM ACTION
DATE. 5126{98
ITEM NO.: 11
Department Approval: Manager reviewed: Agenda Section:
Consent Agenda
Item Description: Final acceptance and maintenance responsibility for utilities and streets
as constructed in Owasso Hills Addition
Background: In March, 1995, construction began on the placement of grading, utilities, curb
and gutter and streets for Owasso Dills Addition, The area is located between Westem Avenue
and cast of Dale Street. The owner of the property, Independent School District 623, was under
contract with C.W. Houle and Park Construction to perform the grading, utilities and streets. The
work was completed in July 1997 and a final punch list was completed in September 1997. The
owner and the contractor have agreed about final payment and the owner is now requesting that
the City Council accept the utilities, curb and gutter and streets for maintenance purposes.
Policy objectives: City Policy requires the following steps be completed to finalize the
construction project
ertificati"n from the civil engineer in charge of the project verifying that all work has been
completed in accordance with the City of Rosev lle's plans and specifications.
A resolution by the City Council accepting the project and beginning the one-year warranty
period
Financial implications: The work performed on this site was by a private developer without any
direct cost to the City. The developer, Independent School District 623, is responsible for any
5
payments for work completed by subcontractors.
Staff recommendation: All necessary items have been completed in accordance with project
plans and specifications. Since all items have been completed as outlined in the policy regarding
final project acceptance, staff recommends the City Council adapt a resolution accepting the
utilities, streets, and curb and gutter as constructed in Owasso Mills Addition.
RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION:
Adopt a resolution accepting the work completed within Owasso Hills Addition and starting the
one-year warranty period.
Prepared by: Doug Strong
