Introduction <br /> Presbyterian Homes of Minnesota has long been an innovative leader in the realm of senior housing and <br /> care.The new Ea g leCrest Dementia residence is the last critical component of development for the entire <br /> Eagle crest Senior Housin g Campus in Roseville. This initiative will provide a much needed_36-unit state- <br /> of-the-art e-art dementia facility that will complete Presbyterians goal to provide a full continuum of care for the <br /> elder l y population o ulation in this area. The supportive living environment will be a safe place,where the highest <br /> level of well-being,dignity and independence can be enjoyed,a place responsive to the individualistic <br /> requirements of residents with dementia. <br /> Planning Concept <br /> The Ea le rest Dementia Residence is designed to provide a normal living environment with residential <br /> attributes. The facility will have small,familiar and home-like areas at the center of each resident's <br /> activities and social network. <br /> The residence facility will be approximately 32,900 square feet with 26 one bedroom units @ 440 square <br /> each and 10 audios 380 square feet each,providing specialty cage for 36 residents with dementia in <br /> feet e � <br /> four"houses". Each house will contain a small family-sized living area that encourages both independence <br /> and interaction with other residents. Typically associated with each house will be nine apartments, <br /> complete with kitchens and private bathrooms with safety disconnects. <br /> Th <br /> e four houses will be linked to theVillage Square,complete with street-like imagery and accessories. <br /> The en wandering wanderin pathways,with highly visible landmarks and life skill activities,will enable the <br /> resident to circulate frecly,safely and comfortably. Residents may leave home for a walk and return home <br /> without encountering a"dead end,"' Familiar functions of a neighborhood will be achieved through a <br /> general create al store ice parlor, spat barber/beauty shop,solarium and chapel to name a few. A contiguous <br /> outdoo r courtyard will offer a place for residents to come in contact with nature and stimulate the desire to <br /> maintain movement in a continuous circulation pattern. Along with the public space,there will be room <br /> for more in ,quiet uiet areas in the neighborhood including,but not limited to,an an gallery,wood shop <br /> and band shell. The intent of this neighborhood is to offer variety and diversity from which residents <br /> choose the activities and spaces that are most comfortable and beneficial to there. One goad of the design <br /> is to reduce disruptive behaviors associated with dementia,and thereby increase length of stay,by offering <br /> ample sp ace to walk off stress and aggression. residents will stay physically active longer and spend more <br /> ializin . with creatively designed access points for entering and leaving the building,the frequent <br /> time soe g <br /> congregating of residents at the entrance will become a thing of the past. <br />
