REQUEST UEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION 4/27/98 ITEM NO.. F-i Approval.Department Reviewed: Section. Reports and Recommendations Item Description: Contract with Laserta inment Productions. BACKGROUND The 50th Anniversary Committee is planning six major events in 1998, beginning in May with a 50th Birthday Bash and concluding with the Golden Rose Banquet 'in October. The schedule is attached. The event scheduled for the weekend of August 22 and 23 includes: "Taste of Roseville"—a variety of Roseville restaurants participating, IN Salute To Volunteers—recognition of Roseville volunteers past and present, Salute To Business And Industry—recognition of the contributions of business and industry to the community, • Craft Shrove, and • Carnival. The concluding event on Saturday,August 22, will be the Salute To Business And Industry with a proposed lasertainment show. Lasertalnment is a Roseville business that has provided shoves with audiences as large as 100,000. Some of their clientele include 1996 Olympic Torch Delay, Super Bowl XXVI, Stanley Cup* festivals, fairs, etc. The show includes a 0'tall, 50'wide screen for displays as well as aerial effects. Attached is information regarding the company. The City Attorney has reviewed and approved the contract, and indicates ®it is most appropriate for the contract to be with the City. Pat Johnson, Chair of the 50th Anniversary Committee, will attend the Council meeting to respond to questions. FINANCIAL IIIIIRLICATIOI The cast of the program is $5,000, which will be paid by the 50th Anniversary orr mittee from fonds they are raising to support their activities. U CIL C ACTION REQUESTED Motion authorizing the City Manager to sign a contract with Laser tainment Productions, Inc. in the amount of$5,000, to be funded by the Roseville 50th Anniversary Committee.
