REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br /> DATE: 4/13/98 <br /> ITEM NO: F-3 <br /> Department Approval: Manager Reviewed.- Agenda section: <br /> ftC3-- Deports and Recommendations <br /> Item Description: Approval of Lease for Roseville Activity enter- <br /> Ac E L Academy <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The Parks and Recreation Dept. has for the last 5 years leased space at the Activity <br /> Center to the Moundsview School District. In anticipation of the moving of the community <br /> bands to the Roseville Area schools as a part of our agreement through the Gymnastics <br /> Center, staff has been marketing the building for lease with other non-profit organizations. <br /> Recently, Accel Academy contacted the department about leasing a portion of the space <br /> for their use. This is a [Montessori school that has been located in the Galilee Lutheran <br /> Church in Roseville. The program is well staffed and organized, staff has worked out the <br /> details of the lease. They propose to lease 2 rooms totaling 1500 square feet. The <br /> proposed lease rate is $9.83. The length of the proposed lease is for 1 year. <br /> POLICY OBJECTIVE <br /> The proposed lease agreement is consistent with passed policy of leasing a portion of the <br /> space at the Activity Center to offset operational costs. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS <br /> The ro osed lease would result in $14,745 i revenue four the Activity Center. <br /> p p <br /> STAFF RECCOMMENDATION <br /> Eased on the policy of offsetting revenues and the past practices of other lessees, staff <br /> recommends the lease agreement with the Accel Academy for the leasing of 1500 square <br /> feet of space at he Roseville Activity Center. <br /> COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br /> Motion authorizing the city Manager to sign the lease agreement with the Accel Academy <br /> for the leasing of 1500 square feet of space at a rate of$9.83 a sq. ft fora 1 year period. <br />
