Can we afford an additional tax? <br /> • Will this change the neighborhood feel, especially if lots of people from other <br /> cities come in? <br /> • Fitness center already exists <br /> • Cost, can't afford it — it will raises taxes <br /> • Traffic impact <br /> • Community has to sold on the idea, and we need adequate time to educate the <br /> public <br /> How Will we Pay for it? <br /> • User fees — will this cover operating costs <br /> o Make sure it covers expenses <br /> • Sell Building Bricks ($1,000 for your name on a brick) <br /> • Ads/Sale of sponsorship <br /> • Recognize the City's financial limits <br /> • Rental fees <br /> • Private partnership (with Lifetime Fitness or another fitness club) <br /> • Recoup lease money that we currently pay to rent space at Fair-view <br /> • This is a bad time financially- with the current economy/stockmarket, should we <br /> hold off for a few years <br /> Other Comments <br /> • What is the purpose of the community center? Do we need it or do we want it? <br /> • Put historical information on the webp age (previous referendum) <br /> • Put the information in the Wrap <br /> • Discuss plans with both Roseville and Mounds View Area School Districts <br /> o Schools have different needs so will not work <br /> • Partner with the Library <br /> • Do some research -- do Roseville residents use the Shoreview or Maplewood <br /> community centers <br /> • Are the weight room and meeting rooms at Skating Center used full time? <br /> • Survey residents, how much are they willing to pay, what they want.. . .maybe <br /> rank order of amenities <br /> • Not just a place for athletics — theater, arts, drama <br /> • Want information about services P&R offers, number of volunteer groups in the <br /> community <br />
