Attached for Council information and review are graphics showing annual percentages of
personnel time assigned to various maintenance functions within the Utility, Street/Storm Water,
and Central Garage Divisions and each Division's primary service responsibilities.
Future additional staffing needs will be discussed with Council during annual budget processes
to ensure increased demands for services and new maintenance programs are staffed and
appropriately funded.
Financial Implications: Adequate funds for the positions as requested are available in the 2002
budgets for all affected divisions within the Public Works Department. Staff anticipates no
increase in current budgeted amounts will be requested.
Staff Recommendation: Staff recommends approval of the requested employee transfers and
authorization to proceed with the recruitment process to fill the vacated Central Garage mechanic
position within the Public Works Department.
RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION:
The Council by motion should approve the transfer of three (3) current Public Works employees
to new classifications in Utility, Street, and Central Garage Divisions and authorize the
replacement of the Central Garage mechanic position.
Prepared By: Frank Gaillard, Public Works Superintendent
attachments
