Reports and Recommendations <br /> a � <br /> f <br /> Item Description.Authorization to Complete Final Plans and Specifications and to <br /> Advertise for Bids for the Completion of Langton Lake Park <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> In 1987, THE City council adopted the Master Plan for Langton Lake Park. Since that time <br /> the city has: <br /> Acquired 6 parcels of land <br /> Developed a 3 field youth athletic field complex <br /> Constructed 2 parking lots <br /> Installed a foot bridge and path over the abandoned portion of County Road - <br /> Worked with the Minnesota D N R to create a "Kids Fishing Pond" in the lake <br /> Received a permit and treated the I ily pads in the north portion of the lake <br /> 1997,In the Parks and Recreation Infrastructure Committee recommended that Langton <br /> Lake Parr be completed. Staff has been working on the final development plans, which <br /> would include the following: <br /> Approximate 1 1/2 mile of bituminous trail <br /> Children's play apparatus <br /> Conversion of youth baseball to youth fast pitch softball fields <br /> small picnic table shelters <br /> Fishing pier <br /> Benches <br /> Landscaping turf irrigation <br /> The implementation of these plans would require a shift of resources from the original <br /> Infrastructure Committee Proposed Budget. The youth fast pitch complex was originally <br /> proposed for Lexington Parr. The Parks and Recreation commission recommended the <br /> change from Lexington Parr to Langton Lake Parr because 3 fields could be constructed <br /> instead of 2 and because much of the infrastructure was already in place at Langton Lake <br /> Parr. Although the fields would be constructed for use by the youth fast pitch program, the <br /> youth baseball program would also continue to use this complex on days when the fast <br /> pitch softball program is not in session. <br /> The Parks and Recreation Commission held a neighborhood meeting on March 4 to <br /> discuss the proposed developments.
