POLICY OBJECTIVES
This proposal represents a prudent investment by the City Council to assure that a short-
term expansion and renovation project at the Bleating Center does not preclude other
projects on the Civic Center site which may be of greater advantage to the community. At
the same time, it establishes a process to evaluate the long-term needs of the community
and the potential build out of the Civic Center site to meet those needs in a way that
involves community input, market sensitivity, and a deliberate process.
IF INA NC IA L TIONs
The immediate cost of the Phase I study is proposed on a fined fee basis at $4,800 plus
reimbursable expenses. This work plan relates directly to the Skating Center Phase
project which has an estimated cost of ,000,000 . The cost of the Phase 1 proposal
($41800) is appropriate and a relatively small amount compared to the total project value
and chargeable to that project budget.
The cost of the Phase 2 project is $45,000 to $55,000 plus reimbursable expenses. This
cost would be budgeted from the City's Professional Services account and the work plan
would be subject to refinement at upcoming City Council work sessions.
COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED
Motion to approve the Agreement for Professional Services with Ellerbe-Becket,
authorizing the Mayor and City Manager to execute this agreement, subject to final review
and approval b the city Attorney, with funds allocated from the Skating Center Phase 2
pp y
p roject for Phase 1 and from the city's Professional Services account for Phase .
project
