ATTACHMENT A
SCOPING ESTIMATE
A "Scoping Estimate" is provided by Xcel Energy for the convenience of the entity
ordering or requesting the project. This approximation is our initial assessment of the
costs associated with an ordered or requested project. The Scoping Estimate is generally
based on our previous experience with comparable projects and uses historical cost data.
This estimate, therefore, is only a "ballpark" estimate of the costs associated with this
project. The actual costs may be higher or lower. We use the Scoping Estimate to
determine whether the installation requested may constitute a "special facility." This
estimate normally precedes our more refined Engineering Estimate.
STEP 1: CHARACTERIZATION OF PROPOSED PROJECT (TO BE
COMPLETED BY XCEL ENERGY)
Requestor Name: City of Roseville/Deb Bloom, Assistant Public Works Director
Address: 2660 Civic Center Drive
Roseville, N1N 55113-1815
Telephone: 65 1/490-222 1
E-mail: deb.bloom@ci.rosevillemn.us
Protect Information. Description of the type of project requested, its proposed location
and the reason for the request:
City of Roseville has requested an undergrounding estimate regarding their 2003 plans to
reconstruct County Road C from Long Lake Road to Snelling Avenue (approximately
1.25 miles in length).
The project requested by the City of Roseville includes removal of the existing overhead
main line electric system. We will replace that system with a new underground main line
and distribution system.
Proi ect Assumptions. Include any additional conditions or assumptions regarding the
project description that may impact cost. Identify tasks that are Xcel Energy's
responsibility and tasks that are the Requestor's responsibility.
City of Roseville is interested in burying overhead distribution lines wherever feasible
along this stretch of roadway. Approximately ten power poles will remain overhead and
will be within view along County Road C.
The surcharge amount will reflect actual, not estimated, project costs.
Xcel Energy responsibilities: Letters to affected customers
Page 1 of 4
