Department Approval Manager Approval Agenda Section consent Item Description: Contract for Emergency Medical Technician Refresher Training with Hennepin Technical College. Background: The Roseville Fire Department does not own or operate its own training center for the purposes of providing state certifications to its members. Training classes that require a state certification, such as Emergency Medical Technician, are provided by technical colleges throughout the state. The Roseville Fire Department contracts customized training services from Hennepin Technical College for the refresher training for Emergency Medical Technicians. This contract allows Roseville to host the course, that will also be open to firefighters from neighboring jurisdictions. Each department is responsible for the cost of the training for their members and there is not additional fees charged to Roseville for serving as the host. However, hosting the class does add an element of convenience for our members, as they do not have to travel to other cities to obtain this recertification training. Policy Implications: The City of Roseville would contract training services with Hennepin Technical College for an Emergency Medical Technician refresher course. Financial: The cost of each course is $210 per student. Roseville Fire Department's portion of the training expense would be funded from the fire department's training budget. There is no additional cost associated with being the host location for the course. Staff Recommendation: Staff recommendation is for council to approve the training contract for Emergency Medical Technician refresher training with Hennepin Technical College. Council Action Requested: Motion to approve the Emergency Medical Technician refresher training contract with Hennepin Technical College.
