The committee consisted of seven members of the fire department,
including one Chief and the department Training Captain.
The committee spent the remaining seven months of 1996 gathering data,
visiting surrounding community's ladder apparatus, as well as researching
the major manufacturers of ladder apparatus {Emergency One, Smeal,
Sutphen, KME, LTI, And Fierce}. The
committee, using all possible tools in which to try and build a quality fire
apparatus as well as hying to keep as generic specs as possible presented a
finished copy of the specs to the city attorney for review the first part of
August. The city attorney made farther recommendations as for the style and
structure of the specs. The committee after making the recommended
changes resubmitted the specs for approval by the City attorney and assistant
city manager. Approval for the advertisement for bid was given, and the
specs were sent out to seven apparatus manufactures
