REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION DATE: 12/13/93 ITEM No. : Department A reval: Manager Reviewed: Agenda section,, Reports and Recommendations Item Description: Award of bid, radiant heat system for public Works garage, City project 92-23, Background e As part of the 1993 Capital Improvement Program for the Public Works Department, a heating system has been included for installation in the vehicle service area of the existing garage building. This expenditure is a proposed replacement system for the existing gas forced air heat systeme A radiant heat system is much more energy efficient than the existing system. The existing system has reached- the end of its useful life and needs replacement. Radiant heat system operationally will result in significant savings in heating costs especially in a facility like the service area where the doors are frequently opened and closed. Money has been included in the 1993 and 1994 budgets in the various Public Works 'Department divisions for this expenditure.
