PLANNING REPORT: <br /> DATE: November 10, 1993 <br /> CASE NUMBER: <br /> APPLICANT: Beltmann North American/Space Center <br /> LOCATION: County Road B-2, West of 35W <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: Sketch Plan Review <br /> 1. BACKGROUND <br /> Earlier this week, our Planning and Economic Development staff met with <br /> representatives of Belimaiui North American and with the Space Center, land <br /> owners of the Dawes Trucking site. The site is located on the north side of <br /> County Road B-2, west of 135W. (see attached map) <br /> Beltmann wishes to build its national headquarters in Roseville on the Space <br /> Center/Dawes Trucking site. The building would be approximately 121,000 <br /> sq. ft., including their national offices which are 14,000 sq. ft. The building <br /> would be 3 stories (30 feet in height) and have a glass curtain wall front, <br /> with masonry side walls. Estimated cost is approximately X5,000,000. Over <br /> 100 fobs would be located on this site. Thirty trucks would be on the site <br /> at any one time. All would be screened from the front by masonry walls and <br /> the building itself. Six months lead time is needed to complete current <br /> leases and begin new construction. <br /> Beltmann began as a moving company and his expanded nationally to be a <br /> strategic r. anner for business moving, a handler and assembler of displays <br /> and exhibits, a mid-point manufacturer's warehouse/distribution point for <br /> component parts used by major computer and electronics companies, as well <br /> as a relocation transfer moving contractor. <br /> The request for conshvcfian of this building requires a rezoning from 1B-6" <br /> to 113-3 1. It is in an area north of Genex, and north of the County Road B-2 <br /> bridge, east of the.Amoco tank farm, and south of the TC Freight and Ryder <br /> Trucks., It is isolated from the "B-b" office/headquarters site south of B-2 <br /> along 35W and 36. <br />
