(NSSC), cosponsor of the Roseville Area Senior Program, I wish to submit the following proposal for your review and submission to the Roseville City council. The North Suburban Senior council was established in 1975 as a non- profit 501 0)(3) corporation with the sole responsibility of providing leadership and securing funds from a variety of sources for the Roseville Area Senior Program. In 1988 a Service coordination Task f=orce made up of senior citizen service providers, representatives from municipalities, senior citizens and others, was established to look at the needs of senior citizens in the north suburban area of Ramsey County. One of the major needs identified was that of reaching out to isolated older adults in the community so they may learn more about services and programs available to them. After the granting year other funds were secured however those funds lasted only one year and NSSC took on the full financial responsibility of the Blockworker program. The NSSC Board of Directors felt then and still feels that this program is very important and vital to linking potentially isolated older adults to programs and servcies necessary to maintaining independence. Currently, there are about 80 volunteers visiting about 80 residents each month throughout our service area. Roseville has 438 residents visited by 50 volunteers. The Roseville Area Senior Program Is the only multipurpose senior center, designaled a community focal point, which provides a comprehensive range of services and programs for older adults in your community. The mission of the Roseville Area Senior Program is to provide quality programs and services to individuals over the age of 85 so they may live independently for as long as they North.
