September 17 1993
To: City council
t
FROM: Steve Sarkoz
SUBJECT: RoSELAWN CEMETERY/WEST of VICTORIA PROPERTY TRANSFER
Earlier this year, the Roselawn cemetery Association agreed to a
50 year lease at $1. 00 per year for a parcel of approximately 45
acres on the east side of victoria Street, south of county Road
B; This parcel is the northern most section of the Roselawn
Cemetery property and is not needed for cemetery use for the
foreseeable future. Their granting a lease to the City allows
the City to use this parcel for any purpose. While the city has
no specific use or intent for the property at this tine, it does
represent a large addition to our park system. The woods and
trails are used extensively by adjoining property owners and
make a wonderful addition to our trail network.
During those discussions with the Roselawn Cemetery dissociation,
we also discussed a parcel on the west side of Victoria, south of
Parker and just north of the Victoria Street curve. This total
site is 8.43 acres with slightly over 7 acres of designated
wetlands. Roselawn has deeded this property to the city for
$1, 00, city Council approval of acceptance of this property is
required.
Staff feels that this parcel is useful to the city, primarily for
storm water ponding purposes* The site may also be used for an
extension of the trail system, green area, and open space*
With city Council approval, this acquisition would be placed on
the City Council agenda for formal acceptance.
Respectfully submitted*
