Commissioner Brisbois provided information about Project 515, including the updated flier. She <br /> said the City of Shoreview agreed to cosponsor the October 4 event. She had contacted neighboring <br /> cities about co-sponsorship but had not heard back from others. The City of Falcon Heights <br /> expressed interest, but because of the timing of their meetings, they were not able to meet in time to <br /> agree to be a co-sponsor. <br /> Commissioners discussed ways to distribute invitations to the Project 515 meeting, asking staff to <br /> contact neighboring cities. <br /> Members of the Golden Valley Human Rights Commission asked if Roseville had a domestic <br /> partner registry, noting that several neighboring cities do or are considering passing a registry. <br /> Commissioner Kaying Thao said she has been focusing on the forum, so had not done worked on <br /> planning community dialogues. She said they hope to use information gained in the forum planning <br /> for future community dialogues. <br /> Operations Committee <br /> Chair Singleton said the committee did not meet. <br /> Commissioner Grefenberg asked that staff provide the by-laws in a word document rather than the <br /> pdf, so it would be easier to update. <br /> Youth Commissioner Report <br /> Commissioner Marie Siliciano said that with the goal of engaging more youth she would like to set <br /> up a Facebook page. She would set up and maintain. <br /> Commissioners encouraged the idea, but asked if the City would have to give permission for a <br /> Facebook page. <br /> Commissioner Grefenberg said he would like to have the HRC establish a liaison with minority <br /> groups at the high school and would like Commissioner Siliciano to be involved. <br /> Staff Reports <br /> Financial Report <br /> Chair Singleton thanked staff for the financial report, noting his appreciation for the specific <br /> expenditures. Commissioner Grefenberg said it needed to show encumbrances. <br /> Essay Contest <br /> Chair Singleton reviewed the rules for the essay contest. Local human rights commissions sponsor a <br /> local contest and send the top essay to the League of Minnesota Human Rights Commissions <br /> (LMHRC) for the statewide contest. He noted that for the past three years at least a Roseville <br /> student took top honors. <br />
