RZQUZOT FOR COUNCIL ACWION <br />DATE: 4/26/93 <br />ITEM Noe 0 .0, 1 <br />Department J01 o,,val : Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section <br />Q��toq Reports and Recommendations <br />/ W, / <br />Item Descriptions Award of bids, purchase for new street sweeper <br />Background : - The 1993 budget contains a proposed expenditure for <br />replacement of an existing street sweeperf The existing sweeper is a- <br />1979 model year and has reached the end of its useful life*' Replacement <br />of the sweeper is necessary to continue cur current street maintenance <br />operationw. <br />Bids were received for the sweeper on March 16j, 1993,o A summary memo <br />from Duane Schwartz, Street Su erintendento is attached su=arizing the <br />bidse As noted in his memorandum, three bids were received@ The bids <br />were structured to include a base bid less a trade -in. optional <br />features were included in the bid package including the following: <br />option I Spring loaded dirt shoes <br />Option 2 Left side gutte'r broom <br />The net bid for each of the pieces of equipment supplied is noted in the <br />attached bid tab. As noted the bid from Crysteel for the Johnston <br />sweeper does not meet specifications. The lowest responsible bidder <br />meeting the requirements of the specifications is ABM Equipment who has <br />specified a Mobil Athey H�10 -Ae <br />policy obj a ct ive s e. in purchasing equipment, we ukust follow the state <br />statute which requires - advertisement for bids if the purchase amount <br />exceeds $25,000. Accordingly, specifiost�cns have been prepared for the <br />required purchase and bids solicited* <br />Financial implications: Financing for the purchase of a new replacement <br />street sweeper has been allowed in the storm utility budget.
