G REPORT <br />DATE <br />CASE DER: <br />APPLICANT <br />LOCATION: <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />14 April 1993 <br />507 <br />Patricia Curtiss <br />1987 Aldine Street <br />Special Use Permit <br />(Home occupation <br />Parlor) <br />Beauty <br />18 EAOGRCNO <br />Mrs. Curtiss is a beautician and wants to operate a beauty parlor <br />as a home occupation out of her residence on Aldine Street. <br />The <br />Code allows certain home occupations with some restrictions <br />and <br />specifically controls beauty parlors by Special Use Permit. <br />NT ALYSj <br />The Code allows beauty parlors by special use Permit as <br />home <br />occupations in N -1 zones if they comply with the following. <br />1 They must be conducted within the private dwelling, <br />not <br />any other building on site,, and may nit use more than <br />one <br />room. <br />2) They must not employ anyone who does not. live on <br />the <br />premises* <br />3) There must not be any s lcjnage beyond what is allowed in <br />the sign regulations for Residence Districts* <br />4) The beauty parlor must have only one operator and <br />must <br />see customers by appointment onle <br />5) Signage may include a non illuminated sign of not <br />more <br />than 3 sure feet , in area <br />s,b curties indicates her operation will abide by all these <br />criteria and that there is adequate space in her driveway to <br />parr <br />a customer's care <br />There have been concerns raised by some area neighbors about the <br />beauty parlor when they were notified of the request., Two letters <br />and a petition are attached. We believe the concerns arose <br />
