in 2009 Aldine Street
Roseville, HN 55113
April 20, 1993
Mayor Vern Johnson and Roseville City Council Members
Roseville City Council
city -tall
Roseville, MN 55113
Dear Mayor ,Johnson and Members of the Roseville City Council
This letter is in regard to the request by Patricia Curtiss for a special use
permit to operate a beauty salon shop out of her home at 1957 Aldine,.
As we explained in our letter of April 6 to the planning Commission and the µ
City Council, there are several reasons for our opposition to this permit.
'those reasons are restated in the petition we signed along with many of our
neighbors. In addition, there are other important factors which are of concern
to us and which we wish to bring to your attention.
As we see. this situation, there is a vast difference between a one - person home
office that does not require or produce neighborhood vehicular traffic for
its existence and a home beauty salon business that depends on a steady flog
of customers for its livelihood .
In evidence we attach a copy of Patridia Curtiss' resume headed with the
1987 Aldine address and refer you to her statements in the section " 1985 - Fresent"
"inventories for both salon supplies and CONSUMER product offerings"
- "'consulting with hair product sales representatives on RETAIL product offerings"
From general knowledge of how beauty shops operate and from these statements
of Patricia Curtiss* we must conclude that this "one- person, one -room,
by-appointment-only" home business would bring unwanted additional traffic
into our R -1 residential neighborhood from:
10 "clientele" with appointments for services
2. customers without appointments to purchase "consumer hair products,"
3. sales representatives seeking to sell their "retail product offerings,
4. commercial vehicles delivering supplies and products to the'shop.
In other words, this neighborhood beauty shop would generate the same type
of commercial and retail traffic as a beauty shop in a commercially zoned area'.
This is not - acceptable.
Please turn to page 2.
