BACKGBMD 'Zn%.vJQQUE T FOR COUNCIL ACTION Ilan per eviewed; DATE: 2/08/93 ITEM NO Agenda Section Reports and Recommendations Cooperative Facility Use Agreement with Roseville Area School District 623 The City and school District have had continuing discussion on ways in which both entities could cooperate to provide the best, most cost effective use of facilities. As a result of the passage of the refer- endum in November of 1992, the District will be constructing new gymnasiums at Sr imrhal l and Central Park elementary schools. The City in. order to provide. needed activity space for residents, has reached agreement with the- District to provide $250,000 per school. For this contribution the City will receive the following 1. Each gym will be enlarged (from 7 0 ft X 90 ft) to 90 ft X 115 ft 2, Secured office /storage space of 300 square feet 3. Locker rooms 49 Exclusive use of gymnasium from 15 minutes after dismissal to midnight on school days and frpm 7:00 a,m, to midnight on non- school days NOTE: School may have four evenings per year if scheduled by August 1 and other days by permission of City. 5. The City shall have the use of other rooms in these schools during the sane times the City has use of the gyms for no charge 6. The school will pay all utility and maintenance costs in the gyms for the first ten years and thereafter these costs will be shared 50/50 7* The City shall have first right of refusal if the school is sold or a depreciated amount for the gym if the City does not exercise the purchase option 8* The agreement is 25 years and may be extended.
