Department Approval: <br />V <br />Item Description. <br />BACKGBMD <br />'Zn%.vJQQUE T FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Ilan per eviewed; <br />DATE: 2/08/93 <br />ITEM NO <br />Agenda Section <br />Reports and Recommendations <br />Cooperative Facility Use Agreement with Roseville <br />Area School District 623 <br />The City and school District have had continuing discussion on ways in <br />which both entities could cooperate to provide the best, most cost <br />effective use of facilities. As a result of the passage of the refer- <br />endum in November of 1992, the District will be constructing new <br />gymnasiums at Sr imrhal l and Central Park elementary schools. The City <br />in. order to provide. needed activity space for residents, has reached <br />agreement with the- District to provide $250,000 per school. For this <br />contribution the City will receive the following <br />1. Each gym will be enlarged (from 7 0 ft X 90 ft) to 90 ft X 115 ft <br />2, Secured office /storage space of 300 square feet <br />3. Locker rooms <br />49 Exclusive use of gymnasium from 15 minutes after dismissal to <br />midnight on school days and frpm 7:00 a,m, to midnight on non- <br />school days <br />NOTE: School may have four evenings per year if scheduled by <br />August 1 and other days by permission of City. <br />5. The City shall have the use of other rooms in these schools <br />during the sane times the City has use of the gyms for no charge <br />6. The school will pay all utility and maintenance costs in the gyms <br />for the first ten years and thereafter these costs will be shared <br />50/50 <br />7* The City shall have first right of refusal if the school is sold <br />or a depreciated amount for the gym if the City does not exercise <br />the purchase option <br />8* The agreement is 25 years and may be extended. The City <br />only, has the right to cancellation <br />POLICY 0 TE CT 1�iTE <br />The proposed contract is consistent with the City's objective of <br />providing the most cost effective, quality services and facilities <br />where possible through intergovernmental cooperative agreements. <br />
