Council Creates Appointment process to Fill Vacancy <br />specifically, <br />• Establish an Application Period: Tues. Jan. 6 —13, <br />• Call Special Council Meeting for Tues, Jan. 20 for <br />Council interviews of all or Council-selected <br />applicants, <br />• Establish goal of appointing someone at the Man, <br />Jan. 26 Council Meeting. <br />Nationale: Since appointee will serve only until spring, and <br />since this issue has been widely discussed and reported,, <br />time is of the essence and speed will net surprise anyone. <br />B. Council Creates Election Process to Fill Vacancy <br />specifically, <br />City publishes and posts fling notice of Special <br />Election on Saturday, Jan. 24 (31). <br />Establish a Candidate Filing Period- Mon. Feb. 10- <br />4 (Feb 1 7- -March ). <br />Establish Election ]date: Tuesday, April 20 ( or 7) <br />depending on the availability o f polling places. <br />Rationale: Tues. Apo l 6 I is Passover, so that would appear <br />not to be a good date for an election; and Tues. April 13 is <br />the day after Easter — ditto. Fence, ire are asking the <br />hexisting oilrn g places to look at April 0`h and l ril 7k. <br />We should have responses with a weep or 10 days. <br />Tues. Jan. 6 - 13: Staff makes available at City Hall and on our website the <br />applications for persons seeking appointment to the <br />Council. <br />Tues. Jan. 13. Staff sends copies of all applications received for <br />appointment to four Councilmembers. <br />Tues. Jan. 20: Special Council Meeting to interview Applicants for <br />appointment. <br />
