G. <br />Department Approval: Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section: <br />1 7T ap-a <br />Consent <br />Item Description: Approving Change Orders to the City's Construction Project <br />Background: The building project continues to progress. Much of the roofing is complete on <br />the Police Addition. As with any project of this nature, we continue to identify unforeseen <br />constructabi l ity issues and some inconsistencies in the drawings. we have written appropriate <br />change orders to contracts to reflect such. These changes reflect previously - approved alternates <br />and additional changes to construction due to conditions encountered or construction <br />complications. <br />Discussion: The following are the change orders we are requesting at this time and a brief <br />description of each. Many of these items were included in the financial summary expressed at <br />the Council meeting on November 17. The following change orders are recommended for <br />approval at this tune, <br />dolfson & Peterson Add $l8q482.00 <br />This change order reflects the Council A22Lov Alternate 46 for the brick screen gall around <br />the emergency generator for City lull. The other items contained in this change order are for <br />minor modifications due to field condition modifications tying into the existing building. <br />There are also deducts for unnecessary items. <br />Collins Electric Add $86,1927.00 <br />The changes to this contract reflect Council approved alternates to date and a code required <br />occupancy classification to the Public works Maintenance Garage. Where are also several <br />smaller changes and deducts as identified during construction. <br />Western Steel Erection ., Add <br />This change order represents necessary modifications due to conditions encountered or <br />complications during steel erection. <br />Financial Implications: A contingency budget was established for unforeseen conditions and <br />�S construction complications. The approximate contingency rema.imng is $350,000 after all <br />potential changes are considered at this time. we feel this is adequate to complete the j ro ect at <br />p � <br />or below budget, <br />
