A. <br />Recognitions <br />American Indian Heritag <br />Proclamation <br />Whereas: the City of Roseville is committed to promoting racial understanding and <br />equality and justice as a fundamental aspect of a healthy community; and <br />Whereas: the City of Roseville is located on land that was once home to many <br />Dakota and Ojibwa Indians; and <br />Whereas: the American Indian community has made substantial contributions to the <br />Roseville, Minnesota and American culture, language and community; and <br />Whereas: the American Indian community has brought values and ideas that have <br />become ingrained in the American spirit including respect for the natural environment, <br />respect for cultural differences and the awareness that diversity can be a source of <br />strength rather than division; and <br />Whereas: by Act of Congress of the United States, November is declared as <br />American Indian Heritage Month; and <br />Whereas: this observance offers special opportunities to become more <br />knowledgeable about the American Indian heritage and to honor the many American <br />Indian leaders who have contributed to the progress of our nation. <br />Now, Therefore Be It Resolved, that the City Council hereby declare the month of <br />November 2003 as American Indian Heritage Month in the City of Roseville and urge all <br />citizens to join in appreciation for our rich and diverse community. <br />In the City of Roseville, County of Ramsey, State of Minnesota, U.S.A <br />In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of <br />Roseville to be affixed this 20`h day of October 2003. <br />Mayor John Kysylyczyn <br />
