r 7 a
From Rrnffjr@aol.com
Sent: Wednesday, August 13, 2003 3:19 PM
To: city.counc11@cLrosevi11e.mn.us
Subject: to Mayor and Council Members
August 13, 2003
To Mayor Ksylyczyn and all city council members,
I have just viewed the part of the August 11 City Council meeting where you
discussed the matter of fall leaf pickup and suggested that you will hear from
residents who have an opinion.
Please register the household at 2009 Aldine as strongly in favor of
continuing the leaf pickup program. There is no way that a mulching mower could handle
all the leaves that fall in this neighborhood, and it is practically a human
impossibility to back up all the leaves from our yard to either haul to a drop
off point or put out for our trash hauler. Waste Management, by the way,
charges 3 a lag for leaf pickup. I can't even estimate how many bags of leaves we
would have, but it's a lot'.
And as far as the neighbors getting together to put all the leaves in front
of one house to save lo..,.PLEEAAASE, 1 take offense at that comment. In
addition, I wouldn't put too much trust in residents' cleaning the leaves or other
yard waste out of the street gutters. The sewer grates in this area are still
plugged up with sticks, seeds, and organic matter that carne dawn in the spring
storms.
When we moved to Roseville in 1971, we were so pleased at what a nice
community it was. Good services for the residents included leaf pickup in both the
fall AND the spring. The streets have always been plowed after a snowfall before
cars need to get out for the day. The city sends out a newsletter informing
us of important issues. We used to xead the legal notices in the free
home-delivered newspapers (which I am sure you will restore). Tease don't bring this
city down to the point where it is no longer the desirable place to live that
it has been for so many years. Keep it better than the rest. That's why people
stay in Roseville and that's how we want it to remain - BETTER!
Please vote to continue the fall leaf pickup program.
Frances and Richard Reitz
2009 Aldine
I
