From: NANCY BENTHELD [NBENTFlI@FAlRVIEW.0RGI
Sent: Wednesday, August 1 , 2003 3:24 PIVI
To: city.councII I.roseville.min.us
Subject: curbside Leaf Collection
As a resident of the City of Roseville for many years, I was very disappointed to read
that the Council is considering ending the curbside leaf collection program and /or closing
the compost site. our taxes and payment for this service should provide enough revenue for
it to continue. The participation level of both the leaf collection and compost site
should justify its continuation. My residence has over a dozen trees on the property,
several of which are on the boulevard within the cities' easement. As a result, the
collection and appropriate disposal of the leaves should not be left to the sole
responsibility of the homeowner.
Other reasons to continue leaf pick up:
* My elderly neighbors would have a difficult time removing leaves if not for the curbside
collection.
* Several years ago the City pushed for a "Beautification Plan" that encouraged the
planting of trees along the streets to replace the lost Elm trees. These are now part of
oseville's responsibility.
* The lack of proper disposal would result in are unacceptable amount of leaves in the
curbs and gutters contributing to increased phosphorus levels in our lakes and waterways
* Lack of leaf pick --up could lead to unsightly yards.
Tease reconsider- this decision.
Yours truly,
Nancy A.
