Closing of Compost Site & Discontinuation of Leaf Pick -Up
Driscoll, Margaret
From: DAvl- MoSEL @VBA.va.gov
Seat: Thursday, August 14, 2003 9:04 AM
To: city. councik ci.roseviIIe.mn.us
Subject: Closing of Compost Site & Discontinuation of Leaf Pick -Up
August 14, 2003
Page I of 1
As for closing the compose site ... it's beyond comprehension. This brings up several questions, such as:
- Where does the council intend or Roseville residents to take their leaves?
- Has anyone considered the costs to Roseville residents for transporting the leaves to another site....gas, time
etc., let alone the cost of
blo- degradable bags. If we have to pay our local garbage hauler to tale the leaves, have to use the bio-
degradable bags, and they
are definitely not cheap.
- How about the leaves that will be left on lawns, illegally dumped In our parrs out of frustration, and left where
they fell in our streets only to clog the drains? Most of the drains on my street have been covered with
leaves, grass and sand all summer (since our heavy spring rains). I have kept the one in front of my
house clear, but most others are clogged. If there will be no place to take the leaves, and no picky -up, the current
problem will only be compounded.
- How about the city workers who worked at the compost sited VVill they be out of jobs, or will they just h acre less
work to do?
- How will the Dale Street site be used ... let me guess...someone think it needs to be "developed", using tax
increment financing, right?
Linda Moseley
280 Minnesota Avenue
Roseville, MN 55113
I j r n os el ey@ h o tmai I. com
8/14/2003
