To: Roseville City Council As residents of the .lames Addition neighborhood (identified as neighborhoods 26/27 in the May/June 2003 edition of the Roseville Wrap), we are happy to hear that projects have begun to help improve the conditions of Oakcrest Avenue. We understand that the improvements address the physical condition of the street and its accompaniments. We feel, however, that this is the perfect opportunity to help improve the safety of our neighborhood streets as well. In order for most community members to leave the neighborhood they must drive down Oakcrest Avenue, which runs east to west, to either Snelling Avenue or Fairview Avenue. This means that the majority members of our community must head south and turn from a north/south street (those being: Fry, Charlotte, Aldine, Herschel, Wheeler and Beacon Streets) onto Oakcrest Avenue. Currently, all parking allowed on Oakcrest Avenue is on the north side of the street. This presents a hazardous sigh# distance problem at each intersection abutting Oakerest Avenue. A parked car can cause a vehicle to drive into the intersection to see around it, putting all drivers and passengers in an unsafe predicament. Several residents have voiced concern over the current situation and given the ongoing construction occurring on Oakcrest Avenue, we have found this to be an appropriate time to address this concern. Therefore, we, the undersigned, propose to have all parking on Oakcrest Avenue moved to the south side of the street. We believe this will eliminate the dangers facing the drivers and will create a safer environment for all members of the James Addition neighborhood. We thank you for your time and consideration.
