MI <br />May 20, 2002 The residential Solid waste and Recycling Committee issues its <br />report. Members cannot reach a consensus on what type of service to <br />recommend. Instead it gives the pros and cons of the top three types <br />(current service, every week collection or single- strum collection) and <br />leaves it to the City Council or a subsequent committee to decide. <br />September 23, 2002 Mayor Kysylyezyn makes a motion to solicit bids for two -sort and <br />single - stream recycling service with the proposals to be forwarded to <br />the Public works and Transportation Commission for review. At the <br />urging of Councilmember Maschka, the Mayor "further clarified the <br />motion to include provision for a single stream pilot project, and further <br />information brought forward. "' Council approves the motion <br />unanimously. <br />October 24, 2002 The public Works and Transportation Commission reviews the three <br />proposals submitted. They agree to recommend the City accept the bid <br />from `'waste Management for two -sort service that includes a single- <br />4 <br />stream pilot. <br />November 18, 2002 Mayor Kysylyczyn moves to accept the proposal from waste <br />Management for two -sort service and to "move forward on a pilot <br />program for single- stream as soon as feasible." The motion is <br />approved 4 -1. <br />November 251 2002 Recycling Coordinator Pratt meets with representatives from waste <br />Management. They mutually agree to delay discussing a pilot program <br />for single - strewn until multi - family service is implemented and WM <br />concludes reorganization. <br />January 2003 'waste Management begins massive internal reorganization after St. <br />Paul gives nonce that it will terminate its contract with WM. <br />March 31, 2003 waste Management closes its St. Paul office that services Roseville. <br />Operations are shifted to Blaine. WM reconfigures its staffing for <br />Roseville. <br />May 5, 2003 Recycling Coordinator Pratt sends a proposal to waste Management for <br />conducting a pilot program, <br />June 19, 2003 Pratt calls waste Management Municipal Marketing Manager Gary <br />Bo yum and asks for a status update on the pilot grogram planning. <br />Boyurn asks for a delay due to vacations of WM staff and subsequently <br />Pratt. He says he will contact Pratt after Pratt returns from vacation <br />July 21. <br />
