At the last meeting, members discussed if the donors could commit to "Adopt a
Sign" at least until December 2005. Each service organization agreed to look
after one sign and wash away any graffiti and report major damage to the City.
In 2006 the City could decide whether to keep, remove or replace the logos.
Participants said they doubted that vandalism or graffiti would be a problem
since signs would be placed in well lit, high traffic areas. The signs would be
made of the latest technology that resists graffiti and are relatively easy to clean.
The group discussed a new design with two panels. The top would say
"Welcome Roseville" and the bottom would include the logos. If a portion of
the sign was damaged it would be cheaper to replace. If new service
organizations wanted to sponsor signs in the future, they could be added more
easily.
Over the years, the City of Roseville has received many donations from citizens
and philanthropic groups. Many of those donations, particularly those from the
Central Park Foundation, ELANC, FOR Parks and FOR fund special projects but
do not pay ongoing maintenance costs. The "Welcome to Roseville" signs are
similar to the improvements to the parks.
* Page
