Member Wilke 1
asked Duane Schwartz to set guidelines for the discussion. Schwartz said
that the charge set forth b the Council is that satin criteria be established
g Y g
so that if the Council decides to move forward with this issue staff would
have background to proceed. The Council has also been discussing !
whether there should be shelters and honchos at the same locations. Roger
Williams, Outdoor Promotions, said that he wasn't there to make a
presentation and in any case Craig Piernot from Outdoor promotions had
given a presentation at the previous meeting so he was just there to answer
questions. Member Wilke said that all Commission members have
received phone calls from US Bench regarding what has been happening
In the metro area and asked if Williams would like to respond to that.
Williams said that there haven "t been any approvals as yet, but that would
'happen soon in New Hope and possibly ShoreviewNew Brighton.
Williams is primarily involved with the seven 135 coalition cities.
Member willenbring asked if questions could be forwarded to the two
representatives throughout the meeting. Everyone agreed.
Member .Anderson asked Williams about graffiti, what is Outdoor
Promotions record on graffiti. Williams said that from what he
'understands Outdoor promotions is very quick to dispatch the necessary
people to take care of graffiti. He thought that since these facilities are lit
and prominent in the right-of-way, vandals are discouraged.
Member Rossini asked what the response time was when damage to the
shelter was reported. Williams said he didn't know but could find out
very easily.
Rollie Danielson, US Bench, presented some background information on
his company. They have served Roseville for 41 years and the metro area
for 57 years. They have worked with Metro Transit for years and have a
good relationship. They provide alternative seating to the shelter, which
people use depending on the circumstances.
