Presentation of Proposed Facility Plans <br />Background: t the February 24th Council Meeting presentation on the facility construction, <br />we stated we would be returning in late March or early April with another, more detailed update <br />on the project. we are now essentially at the end of the design development phase and are <br />beginning the final design and detailed drawing phase. We will be presenting the proposed <br />project to you at the Council Meeting. Representatives from Ankeny Kell Architects and <br />Mc o ugh Construction will be going over the proposed floor plans, site plan and construction <br />phasing plan. We will also discuss the project budget. <br />Attached to this Council Action are proposed floor plan drawings and proposers building <br />elevation drawings. we will have 3 -D images of the proposed construction at the Council <br />Meeting} which will better detail the proposed exterior finishes and fit within this site. <br />The architects will discuss the proposed building finishes with you. Mc Gough Construction will <br />also discuss the proposed phasing plan for construction of this project. <br />Discussion: The project, as currently proposed, is consistent with the goals and objectives <br />presented to the Council prior to the November 2002 referendum. The police addition is minus a <br />firing range, as directed by Council on March 31, 2003. The maintenance building remodeling <br />and expansion of the yard area includes winter maintenance materials facility, improved storage <br />g <br />areas, an unproved vehicle maintenance area, and improved office and staff areas accessible to <br />the public. <br />Civic Center give is proposed to be realigned through the site and parking areas redesigned and <br />rebuilt. <br />The police addition and maintenance building improvements are projected to be within the <br />Council authorized not -to- exceed total cast of $10.4 million. Mc Gough Construction has <br />provided three estimates to date through the design development process, each bringing us closer - <br />to the project budget. we are committed to delivering the project within budget. <br />The floor plan for existing City Hall, as shown in the attachment, depicts a proposed remodeled <br />building after the police move into their new space. This drawing includes park and Recreation <br />offices in the current location of Public Works. Public Works, Eire Administration and <br />Information Technology are shown in the to -be- vacated police space in the louver level. The <br />Council authorized staff at the February 24th Meeting to obtain estimates and preliminary designs <br />for the remodel of existing City Hall.
