A. <br />Department Approval: Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section: <br />Reports & Recommendations <br />Item Description; ' y Center Building Project Update <br />Item A.1+ Awarding Contracts Based on Second Bid Package: <br />On .tune 2, 2003, the Council approved the first bid package for the site work for the City Mall <br />addition and for the Maintenance Building project. Bid Package #2 was advertised in early June. <br />Bids were opened on .tune 18, 2003, for this package. This bid package includes the building <br />excavation, the cast -in -place concrete for footings and foundations and floors, precast concrete <br />for walls and floors, structural steel for walls and roofs, and structural steel erection. <br />Bid Package #3 will ' include interior and exterior finishes, mechanical and electrical, roofing, and <br />landscaping. Those bids are scheduled to be opened early August. Each of the bid packages <br />requires extensive work by staff, teeny Kell, a large team of engineers, and McGough. <br />Item .. Environmental Abatement Contract: <br />As part of the design process, we were required to do an analysis of existing materials in areas to <br />be renovated to check for hazardous materials. This work was completed in early May by AT <br />and Associates of Roseville. Materials containing asbestos were found in the lover level of City <br />Hall, as well as in the Maintenance Building. Floor the in the existing Police Department area <br />will need to he abated. In the Maintenance Building, a small amount of floor tile, carpet mastic <br />and reef mastic will need to be abated. Due to lead content, the existing firing range will also <br />need cleanup. we have received bids for this work at this time so the abatement can be <br />completed beforc construction begins. <br />Item .. Purchase of Vehicle Lift <br />Another issue that needs attention at this time is the purchase of vehicle lifts for the Central <br />Garage Shop. While that area of the building is under construction, temporary repair facilities <br />will be set up in the 1 990 addition to the Maintenance Building. The lifts included in the project <br />budget are portable in nature and will serve both the temporary shop area and the newly - <br />constructed shop when completed. we propose to purchase two vehicle lifts at this time. One <br />lift is a 96,000 pound truck lift, and the other is a 12,,000 pound light -duty vehicle lift. <br />
